Ephphatha Ministries New Plymouth had its origin in October 2022 and is a part of the Bethel Assemblies of God Auckland. The Assemblies of God was formed in 1914 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA. This was the direct offshoot of the born again Revival in the early part of the 20th century-the Azuza street revival (1906) in Los Angeles, California, USA. The revival was the after effect of the Protestant reformation in 1517 and the further revivals of the Anabaptists, Wesleyan Revival, and the Holiness movement. Many people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in accordance to the book of Acts 2:1-4 with the evidence of speaking in unknown languages as the Spirit gave them utterance. This revival spread throughout the world and many received this experience in the early decades of the twentieth century. This revival has not ceased and has expanded over the years in many nations across the world, including New Zealand.
